Narrative
I find J T Clay's references to Granger, Texas, in John Crocker's family somewhat questionable, as The Handbook of Texas Online [http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/GG/hjg8.html] states that Granger "originated in 1882" and was "first named Pollack."
The 1870 census [http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/austin/census/1870/0397a.gif] (1870 Nov 3) places the family in Industry, Austin Co. (Precinct 5), Texas.
Following John Crocker's death, John Wilbert was raised by "Uncle John" Watson.
