Narrative
Chickasaw: Dawes Roll # 3347; attended Bloomfield Seminary, 1853-57.
Within my mother's family, she was always referred to as "Grandmother Mead," even though she wasn't anybody's grandmother.
Frances Elizabeth Kemp was interviewed several times in 1937 as part of the WPA's Indian-Pioneer collection. Viki Anderson has posted an excellent copy of these interviews at ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ok/bryan/bios/k5100001.txt. An edited version was printed in the Chickasaw Times, October, 2007.
