Narrative
If the maiden name of Joel STOW(E)'s wife was in fact Mary Wilmina CONKLIN (as indicated by Walter Maynard [http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&db=:288476], then there is an interesting item to be found in the 1880 US Census (Texas, Denton Co., Precinct No. 8. The Joel and Mary W. STOW family is listed as living adjacent to the following:
CONKLING, Amanda: white, female, 63(?) years old. Widowed. Occupation: Keeping house.
-----, Margaret S.: white, female, 27, daughter. Single.
-----, Joseph A.: white male, 26, son. Single. Occupation: farmer.
FOWLER, Jeff: white, male, 17, servant. Single. Occupation: works on farm.
It is tempting to think that Amanda CONKLING might be Mary Wilmina CONKLIN's grandmother or great-aunt. I'll leave that little puzzle for someone else to solve...
