Narrative

Some sources give surname as RUMMINS: perhaps an earlier marriage?
But note the following: <blockquote> Hannah Wallingford applied for a pension for Jacob Applegate in Franklin County, Indiana. Jacob was a private in Captain Ward's Company, Kentucky Militia during the War of 1812. Then pension claim number is WO 7603. She was 67 in 1854 (5 May).
According to her application, Jacob volunteered in Mason County, Kentucky on 3 October 1812 and he was discharged 3 November 1812. She further stated that she was married to Jacob in Fleming County, Kentucky on 19 June 1806 by Daniel Johnstone, a Baptist minister. Her maiden name was Rummens. Jacob died 14 Feb 1827. The purpose of her claim was for bounty land. On 30 November 1871 Hannah was a resident of Salt Creek Township, Franklin County. She gave her age as 84. She stated that Jacob was involved in fighting in what is now Ft Wayne, Indiana and that he died in Fleming County, Kentucky.
After Jacob's death she married Benjamin Wallingford who died in June 1838. Her claim was rejected as she had remarried.
The preceeding information can be found in the Kentucky Genealogist, Vol 7, Issue 3 pp104-105. According to this Hannah would have been born around the year 1787.
The marriage records of Fleming County confirm the marriage of Hannah Roman to Jacob Applegate. Benjamin Wallingford married Hannah Applegate on 6 June 1829 in Mason County, Kentucky. It would seem that Hannah Peters and Hannah Rummins could not possibly be the same person!
